We've been feeding our tiny baby monarch caterpillars and it shows...they're growing!!!
 The kids and I had a great time making some new toys today! Lots of fun and great for fine motor work and critical thinking skills. I love making our own toys! The kids get so involved with them and seem so much more excited for homemade toys. Plus, when you can make them using recycled materials, it's even better!    We are very excited to have brand new monarch caterpillars to observe! Monarch butterflies lay their eggs on milkweed plants since that is a food source for the caterpillars. We were fortunate enough to find a couple of brand new caterpillars, and even an unhatched egg! We are looking forward to keeping them in our butterfly house with a fresh supply of milkweed so we can watch them grow and change!   We had some big messy fun with cornstarch & water outside this morning! A great sensory activity, and science lesson, too, since the mixture creates a "non-newtonian fluid" which has properties of both liquid and solid.    We are going to enjoy every last bit of summer weather!
